“As they were eating Jesus took bread, blessed it and tore it apart. As He gave it to His disciples He said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ Then He took the cup, which contained wine, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and they all drank from it. He said to them, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.'”
This week in Tree House, we talked about Judas’ betrayal of Jesus and the Lord’s Supper. As you go about your week, talk to your child about what he or she learned in class this weekend. Here are some questions you may want to ask:
…What was the name of the celebration Jesus was sharing with His disciples? (The Passover.)
…Which disciple betrayed Jesus? (Judas.)
…What did Judas get for betraying Jesus? (Money, coins.)
…How would you feel if one of your friends treat you as Judas treated Jesus? (Mad, sad, hurt.)
…What was the new celebration that Jesus started? (The Lord’s Supper.)
…What is your memory verse right now? (“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 Go over this with them a few times. Have your child teach you the hand motions – bonus points if you share video with us here!)
What a great reminder of what Jesus has done for us, paying the debt or our sins so we could be reconciled to Him and have eternal life!
